Digital Natives
I am considered a digital immigrant. The children today are digital natives. My two year old nephew can already navigate through my smartphone and figure out how to call my mom. I pondered this for a while but then realized that this is the world today. Children are practically born with technology at their fingertips. After reading the articles that address digital natives I realize that not only has technology changed the way we call, pay our bills, and read books it has changed the way we must teach our children. In order to keep our students engaged and active in our daily lessons we must utilize technology in one way whether it be videos, games, songs, etc. Paper and pencil are a way of teaching from the past that will not suffice in todays classrooms. I am excited and nervous to include technology into the lessons in my classroom. Nervous because technology can fail but excited because it can bring so much to the lesson.

Copyright
Good job you propellor head, or maybe you
should go back and read the article!
Your score is 63%.
Your score is 63%.
SO there are many tricky issues
that surround copyright laws. I thought initially it was about money however it
is not! I have realized that although you may give credit it still does not
make it legal. I also learned that showing material for rewards is not legal
only for instructional purposes. I also thought it was interesting that you can
copy Bill Nye the Science guy and shelf it for 3 years because it is intended
for instructional purposes however other clips its only 45days. I also think
it’s good to be aware that you cannot pretape as a precaution or a “just in
case” situation. I also learned that copyright laws are civil not criminal.
Many interesting facts I learned from this article. I will return to this
article for more clarification when I have a question in the future about usage
of copyrighted material.
Scoring PowerPoints
1. What are my thoughts on this article?
I think that this article has many valid points. I didn't dislike this article but I thought it could be improved to make it more interesting to read and enjoyable for the reader. I did learn some new information however most of the information covered has been discussed in many of my prior classes.
2. What parts do I agree with?
I agree with the fact that the bullets on the slides are there as talking points. The slides are not meant to be read word for word (although I have been guilty of this in the past). I also agree that the presenter needs to make eye contact with the audience and know the audience when they are creating the powerpoint. I also agree that you should eliminate distractions and also speak with conviction during your presentation.
3. What parts did I disagree with?
I don't necessarily think that every pictures has to have a dramatic impact or be so powerful but you should attempt to find powerful pictures. I also don't think that every presentation needs to be delivered dramatically, it just depends on the assignment and the audience.

Getting to Know You
1. At Home- At home I am a wife, a daughter, one of six children (three brothers and two sisters), and an aunt (3 nephews and almost 2 nieces). I am busy tending to my family and spending as much time with my husband and family as possible! As a family we love to hang out at mom's house and take family vacations to the Colorado River (Parker on California Side) as much as possible during the summers.
2. At School- Currently I am working as an intern at Compton Unified School District as an elementary RSP Special Ed teacher. I have just started in May and will continue to work with Compton Unified between 2 different elementary schools. I get to utilize both my credentials as an elementary RSP teacher! Love it!!! The classroom with kidos is my environment!!!
3. Out and About- When I am not working or in class my husband and I enjoy music and being out in nature. We love to go for hikes and attend concerts (Rock N Roll). We have seen Aerosmith, our favorite band about 6 times. We haven't been to a concert this year but look forward to one in the future. Going for walks or hikes in nature and being outside is one of our favorite things!!
4. Unique about me- Unique about me... this is an interesting topic. I am one of six children, the second oldest, oldest girl. We are all about only a year apart. The oldest will be 35 on July 26th, I will be 34 on July 13th, and the next youngest boy will be 33 on July 9th. So for 4 days my younger brother and I will be the same age, then once it's my birthday I will be the same age as my older brother for about 2 weeks. We are close in age but close in relationships as well! The oldest will be 35 and the youngest will be 29 this year. We are the Betts (my maiden name) Bunch!!
